Philips SpeechLive - Foot pedal disconnected

Philips SpeechLive - Foot pedal disconnected

If you've been using a foot pedal with Philips SpeechLive and find that it's no longer connected after logging in, try these steps.

Update your browser

  1. On your web browser, go to the three dots in the top right hand corner underneath the x
  2. Go to Settings
  3. On the left-hand column of the new window, go to About
  4. The web browser will then run through a check to see if there's an update
  5. If there is, let the update install and then restart your browser when prompted
NB: Save any work in your web browser before restarting it as you may lose any progress
  6. Log back into SpeechLive and check whether the foot pedal is now connected

Reset foot pedal connection

  1. Unplug your foot pedal
  2. Plug your foot pedal back in
  3. Your computer may make a noise to show it's connected. You can also check in your PC Settings > Devices and see if the pedal shows as a connected device

PDC installation

On your browser, check the PDC browser extension is installed and activated:
  1. In the top right hand corner of your browser, click the jigsaw piece icon
  2. Philips Device Connector should show in the list of active extensions. If not, go to Manage Extensions
  3. Toggle the switch on the extension so that it is blue
  4. Restart your web browser
If your foot pedal still isn't connected, then check the Native Host Application is installed
  1. Open your PC Control Panel by searching for it in your task bar
  2. Go to Programs
  3. Click Programs and Features
  4. Search in the list of installed programs for Philips Device Connector Native Host Application
  5. If it's not showing, redownload and install it here.
If you work in a Remote Desktop Service (RDS) such as Citrix, the PDC needs to be installed on the RDS, and the Philips Client Extension should be installed on the local PC outside the remote desktop. You may require your IT to assist with this process to ensure it is properly installed. Full instructions can be found here.
